Third through Fifth Grade

In third through fifth grade, students continue to learn about different elements of art, techniques and artists.  Students use journals to guide them through planning, sketching, creating and reflecting on their artwork.  This allows me to better understand what each artist is trying to communicate in their artwork, and it helps me to know what they have learned. 

After guiding students through different concepts and techniques, they start to choose which concepts and techniques they want to put together in their own original creations.  As the year progresses, students get more choice in what they make and what they use to make it.
