Project Registration Form Due: TBD!

The South Hanover Elementary PTO is proud to again host the annual Academic Fair which gives students the opportunity to voluntarily create and display a project in one of eight categories: Art, History, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Science, Social Studies, and Writing. This is an opportunity for students to explore areas that are not always covered in our curriculum or to expand on a topic that is.
  • Students can invent or build something, perform a science experiment, make a diorama, create a math activity, research a famous person or historical event, explain the history of a sport, create a work of art, write a poem or short story, compose a musical piece, etc.
  • The project should be completed at home and not be an assigned piece of work from school. We understand that some parental help may be needed, but it should be kept to a minimum.

Students participating in the Academic Fair must register their projects by TBD.
(If students do not complete and return the Registration Form, they may not receive a medal.)

Each student MUST display their project along with a completed “WHAT I LEARNED” sheet.
(This form should NOT be turned in with your Registration Form but must accompany your project at the Fair.)

Project drop off and set-up will be on Wednesday, TBD, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the South Hanover Elementary Cafetorium.

RULES & PROCEDURES

  • Entries should fit within a 36” space.
  • Entries should be clearly labeled with the student’s name and grade, as well as the title.
  • Items which are potentially dangerous (such as chemicals, knives, weapons, live animals, etc.) may not be displayed.
  • Items that are valuable should not be used since we cannot guarantee their safety. Use photos when possible.
  • Complete the “WHAT I LEARNED” sheet and display it by or on your project. This can be a tool to discuss your creativity or what you discovered in your research.
  • Writing projects may be either hand-written or computer generated. Writing projects, art pieces and musical compositions should be original works.
  • You may use tri-fold presentation boards or other media to display your project.
